Subaru Outback Touring Design features

Subaru has published a photo of the interior of the new Outback. The front panel design of the station wagon reminds Volvo models with vertically mounted "tablet" of the multimedia and climate control deflectors located on its edges. The public debut of the new Subaru Outback generation will be held on April 17 at the New York Auto Show.

The station wagon is built on the new global modular Subaru Global Platform (SGP), just like the current Forester. The "bogie" design extensively uses ultra-high-strength steel; it has a reduced centre of gravity, noise and vibration levels. Rigidity is increased by 70-100 percent. In addition, cars built on the SGP can be equipped with different types of power units.

According to preliminary information, the six-cylinder 3,6-liter unit will disappear from the engine range of the "Outback". It will be replaced by a 2.4-litre turbo-powered unit (264 powers and 376 Nm) from Ascent. Also, the hybrid e-Boxer with a power unit consisting of a 2,0-liter "oppositor" with 150 powers, 16,7-horsepower electric motor and a variator is expected.

The interior design of the new Subaru Outback will repeat Legacy exactly. After the change of generation, the sedan has the same vertical screen as the multimedia complex. It is divided into three parts: the top displays the work of the audio system, in the middle, there are virtual buttons with access to all primary functions, and at the bottom - climate control.

Controls

It's time to relax and not worry about anything. The Subaru Outback takes control of the controls and provides you with a comfortable and safe driving experience. Adaptive Cruise Control assists you during rush hour or when you're driving in stop & go mode.  Stereo cameras work together with the engine, transmission and braking system to regulate safe speed and distance to the vehicle in front.

High Beam Assist aids you at night, a high beam switching system that automatically switches from high beam to low beam when it identifies oncoming traffic. If you get tired and start crossing road markings, the car activates an audible lane departure warning to help you concentrate on driving. Listen for warnings from the Subaru Rear Vehicle Detection blind spot detection system to safely change lanes.

Safety

A reputation for reliability is paramount. Subaru engineers pay special attention to developing safety technologies to prevent collisions. The Subaru Outback features a ring-shaped force cage that effectively absorbs impacts from any direction during collisions. At the same time, the symmetrical design of the all-wheel-drive platform and the horizontal-opposite engine protects passengers from damage by using the chassis structure as a deformable zone.

In addition to its well-thought-out design, the innovative Eyesight driver assistance system is your indispensable assistant on the road. Using a stereo camera and two lenses, the system analyzes the road environment and recognizes the potential risk. As needed, Eyesight provides visual or audible warnings to the driver and activates the brakes to prevent an accident.

Interior design

Inside, you will be welcomed at the highest level.  Ample space, noble finishes, quality materials - the Subaru Outback is focused on maximum comfort for all passengers. A wide monitor with multiple touch screens provides the driver with easy access to necessary information and control of modern applications. One of the main features of the Subaru Outback's interior design is the comfortable rear seats.

The rear seat backrests can be individually adjusted, making long trips even more enjoyable. The blue illumination of the instrument panel, central console compartment and cupholders adds refinement to the overall atmosphere. Acoustic comfort is provided by a premium audio system based on the latest Harman/Kardon technology.

The Rally Experience

Curiously, but along with racing Impreza, Outback also quite successfully lit up in the rally field. In 2002, starting in Seattle (WA) in the marathon Alcan Rally, the crossover led by a crew of three people made it to the Arctic Circle and the first to return. In 2006, the same success could repeat the Outback of the new generation.

The "third" Outback appeared in the autumn of 2003. The overtly off-road design gave way to laconism: there is less unpainted plastic on the body. The power of opposites 2.0 and 2.5 became higher (140 and 165 hp, respectively). The flagship six was radically upgraded back in 2000 on the previous generation car - its power was increased to 245 hp.
